General Service Back Pressure Regulators from Equilibar

General Service Back Pressure Regulators

Equilibar General Service “GS” back pressure regulators and valves provide stable control of gases, liquids, and mixed-phase fluids in port sizes from 1/4″ to 1″. Sized for pilot scale or manufacturing scale applications, these models are widely used for electrolysis,  fuel cell testing, continuous API manufacturing, pressure bypass control and high resolution flow control.

The trim and body materials can be customized to fit the demands of the process. Common materials in stock are SS316L and PVC but depending on application requirements, GS back pressure regulators can be made from Aluminum, Hastelloy C276, Monel, PTFE, PEEK or other materials. O-rings and diaphragm materials are also available in various materials to meet the needs of the process.

How do I choose a back pressure regulator?

Choosing a back pressure regulator involves understanding the process parameters of the fluid during the process, including fluid phase (gas, liquid or mixed phase), fluid temperature, range of flow rates and pressure range. An engineer will use this information to size a valve with the proper flow coefficient, a number used to represent how easily fluid flows through the valve. Chemical compatibility or oxygen use will also be a factor in the materials chosen for the valve design or for any special surface treatments required. Sanitary designs are different from general or industrial service designs.

Q&A on single-use and multi-use fluid control for biopharma processes

From single-use valves for TFF to a redesigned sanitary safety relief valve, Equilibar and Steriflow have been exploring synergistic ways to combine two distinct technologies to create better fluid control solutions for the biopharmaceutical industry since 2021. As they prepare for the April 2024 INTERPHEX show in New York City, Single Use Technology Manager Ryan Read More
